Pigeon and Bird Control Deterrent Products

There are many bird control, exclusion and abatement materials and devices on the market today, some work and some are a waste of money. Some times a product that is very good but is used the wrong way or against the wrong type of bird fails, that's why a professional installer like Arizona Wings N' Stings is your best solution to solving your bird control problems quickly and effectively, which will save you time and money in the long run.

A number of options exist for managing or preventing nuisance pigeons and birds from getting on buildings and structures;

Controlling pigeons and other birds on the exterior surfaces of buildings often requires considerably more effort. The most effective and permanent methods of control involve structural modifications which either physically exclude birds or pigeons from the preferred surface or make it difficult for the birds to rest comfortably on the exposed building surfaces. Physical exclusion can be accomplished by installing weather resistant netting, wire screening, sheet metal, or other materials in a manner that will restrict access to the roosting sites.

Here is a basic list and overview of what you may see installed on homes and building around your hometown.

Bird Spike for pigeons and large birds Bird spike comes in a number of different styles to fit all sorts of ledges and build outs of building and other structures. Stainless steel spikes are the best for long lasting use, they are not sharp but are long enough that pigeons and other larger birds can't stand on them.
Plastic pigeon spike Plastic bird spike came out as a cheaper alternative to stainless steel spike but this product doesn't hold up in Arizona or Nevada temperatures and gets brittle and breaks. The spikes themselves are also wider and that allows pigeons to hold onto the spike and start to build a nest in them.
Gutter spike keeps them out Gutter spike is installed on the leading edges of the gutter to help prevent pigeons from sitting on the edge of the gutter or nesting inside the gutter which pigeons will do if given the chance.
Post and Wire System Post and Wire systems are great for parapet wall ledges and window ledges where you do not want to see the product. Post and Wire systems create an unstable landing area for pigeons and larger birds.
Bird Coil for ledges and signs Bird Coils come in 4" or 6" and look like a slinky stretched out on the parapet wall. Bird coils are designed for pigeons that  land on the parapet wall and when they land on the coils it creates an unstable surface by folding over under the birds weight and scaring off the bird.
Bird gel - what a mess Gels are applied to surface where birds land, when the bird steps on the gel it is very sticky and the birds will avoid the area. Problems - short term solution, the gel gets dirty, feathers and some small birds stuck in it and die.
Whirly birds keep them away WHIRLY BIRD covers a 5' circular area, is designed to keep birds off A/C units, chimneys and other places where pigeons are a problem by spinning around continuously during the day light hours. When birds try to land they get hit with the antennas that stick out, larger 110v units are available for billboards and large coverage areas.
Daddy long leggs keeps them off chimneys and Ac units Daddy Long Leggs are used on Ac units, streetlights, boats and other locations where pigeons fly onto. The small wire rods are stainless steel and rotate in the breeze and wave menacingly, interfering with the birds as they attempt to land. The units are inconspicuous from short distances and practically invisible from 25' or more.
Bird netting provides total exclusion Bird netting comes in several different materials, sizes, colors and is used for  exclusion of birds from a variety of locations that are enclosed or semi-enclosed. Net sizes are 3/4" for sparrows & swallows, 1 1/8" for starlings & blackbirds, 2" for pigeons and larger birds. Netting is usually attached to a cable system to hold the netting in place.
Shock systems in solar or plug in for power Bird shock systems provide a low voltage shock to the birds when they come in contact with the wires, Very similar to a dog shock fence. Shock track is usually run on ridge top areas of the roof, along parapet walls of other areas pigeons and larger birds like to land or roost.  Chargers for the units come in a solar powered charger or  units that can plug into the 110v wall outlet. This product is very effective and comes in a variety of styles and materials that can fit on most any building or structures.
Bird Be Gone flexable shock track Bird barrier shock track
Bird Slope or Bird Slide is used to create a 45% angle that pigeons can't stand on because of the slick slope.

Bird slope can also be used upside down to break up the angle that swallows need to build their nests.

Birdbuffer hanging from ceiling BirdBuffer - Can be used in open spaces to clean out pigeons and other birds

The product is safe and humane for all types of birds and is safe to use around humans and pets

OvoControl P baits is small OvOControl - Contraceptive bait for pigeons and geese

Reduce the resident population of pigeons around your facility by stopping the breeding cycle and used along with live trapping can reduce the flock down quickly

Live catch traps are a great way to reduce the population Trapping - This is a very reliable way of reducing the current resident population of pigeons from most sites as long as there is a flat or slightly pitched roof available to place the trap on.

Most times trapping can reduce a very large flock down to just a few in a couple of months.

Bird Repeller — Inflatable - for pigeon control, pigeon removal, pigeon deterrents, pigeon problems, pigeon repellent from New PigBird Repellent Tape - for pigeon control, pigeon removal, pigeon deterrents, pigeon problems, pigeon repellent from New Pig Scare Balloons and Tapes - These items may work for about a day or two, but generally are a waste of money
Electric powered repeller stops pigeons from roosting on the tops of billboards

This lightweight mechanical propeller device has been designed to deter pigeons, crows, seagulls or any other birds from landing or perching on surfaces that are controlled by the "Repeller".

The REPELLER is a lightweight propeller device that rotates at 30 RPM. The Repeller consists of two 6 foot fiberglass rods rotating in a 12 foot circle. The Repeller is powered by a 110 VAC motor that is housed in a 4 x 6 inch weather resistant metal box with attached mounting bracket.

Screen doors allow you to see out and lets in the air but still keeps out the pigeons Sliding Screen Door - The use of sliding screen doors can be used to keep birds out of warehouse areas and still allow fresh air to circulate along with being able to see out the screen from the inside.

Commercial HVAC units

The Stand Off brackets are mounted on the corners of the unit and support a perimeter cable approximately 2 feet above and 2 feet out from the outside edge of the unit. Two additional cables are installed diagonally from the end of each standoff support arm (corner to corner) to support the standoff arms and to provide support to the net in the middle of the unit, this insures that the net will not sag down onto the equipment

On smaller units a cable tension system holds the standoff brackets securely in place allowing installation without penetration of the HVAC unit with screws. Adding two sheet metal screws per corner adds strength. Larger units with spans greater than 10 feet should have sheet metal screws used to fasten the standoff to the unit.

The protective net is net ringed to the supporting perimeter cable and down the corner seams. The weighted line is also net ringed securely to the bottom of the net to insure a clean and tight installation. A zipper can be installed in the net to allow access to the interior of the protection system. In the second example described here a 6' zipper is installed that allows easy access for maintenance.

 Birdblaster Bird Control System

Uses compressed air and movement to scare away the birds as they approach the area protected by The Birdblaster units
